PuraVolta® – a plug and play solution for e-methane production at biogas plants

We are developing a plug and play solution for biomethanation of CO2 from biogas plants – the PuraVolta. The solution is based on the latest research in biomethanation from Aarhus University and our knowhow from the PtX industry. The offering includes electrolyzer, controls and bioreactor, which reduces the integration work in the project and thereby the risks.


Our offering in project development and execution

We help our customers to establish the PuraVolta gas-upgrade from start to finish by splitting the projects into 4 phases.

  1. Developer phase: We help our customers to design the upgraded plant and evaluate their business case for the specific site and utility configuration and come to a conclusion to proceed or not.
  2. Structuring phase: We deliver the complete design and specification work, apply for permits and provide firm price on sub-contracts to enable our customer to make final investment decision.
  3. During the construction phase we ensure that the project is executed and that our customers have a functioning system at COD.
  4. Post COD we support our customers with the operation and optimization of the plant   

Why e-methane?

Combining biogenic carbon from biogas plants with hydrogen produced from renewable energy makes e-methane a clean and storable energy and carbon carrier. This is the only e-fuel that can utilize existing infrastructure and it is a pure drop in replacement for Natural gas (CNG, LNG)

E-methane is the most competitive e-fuel as it can be produced when power cost are low (green). Furthermore, it enables a sector coupling between the electricity and gas grid.
